Sports Program

A healthy body is vital for a healthy mind

Sport is an essential part of the curriculum at Trinity Lutheran College. Physical Education classes are undertaken at all year levels with the focus on participation to the best of a student’s ability using movement and motivation to enable and challenge active living. There is much research and evidence supporting the notion that regular physical activity is imperative in maximising student learning outcomes and academic performance especially as students reach the senior year levels. The prep students participate in a twice weekly Perceptual Motor Program or PMP. All Physical Education classes are taken by specialist teachers.

Sports Excellence Program

Specialist tuition in the sport of volleyball is offered to students in Years 5 to 10. In term 1, the School Sports Victoria secondary interschool volleyball competition is held and Trinity forms its teams to train at the start of term 1. It will be an expectation that the Sports Excellence Program volleyball students would form the core of the team for their age division and train with that team in preparation for competition and then continue their training throughout the year.

Students apply to be in the program which will then run in Mallee Sports Hall during terms 2, 3 and 4. The program involves a 90-minute intensive session once a week from 3:00pm to 4:30pm with an accredited trainer and coach.

Interschool Sport

Throughout the year, students are given opportunities to compete in a range of inter-school sports with direct channels that can lead to national-level competition. Trinity competes in the School Sport Victoria Sunraysia division for both primary and secondary competitions.

Team sports include Cricket, Soccer, Tennis, Baseball, Volleyball, Hockey, Badminton and Basketball.

From time to time, Trinity will field teams in other competitions such as McDonalds Hoop Time and Volleyball All Schools.

Interhouse Sport

Inter-house sporting carnivals in athletics, cross country and swimming are key events within the College calendar. These whole of college events develop student leadership, Collegian spirit and foster a strong team culture, whilst providing further opportunities for individual students to compete at higher levels through School Sport Victoria (SSV).
